Linked 52: Summer

I love summer.  Fall is actually my favorite season, but there is something so be said about summer.  I always feel so free.  :)

Neither one of my children know how to swim and they are fairly scared in water above their knees.  I want to get them in swimming lessons but know that I need to get them used to the water more so they don't have meltdowns when it's time to get in.  Heaven forbid, we should get our head wet.  Yes, that's what I deal with.  I've been taking them to the splash pad, the wading pool, the beach . . . you name it.  Here are my favorite summer (and water) themed photos for the week:

I know he is upset, but I still love it.

I caught this one with my phone at the wading pool.  Fun.

This was from this past weekend when we went to visit my dad.  He took them fishing for the first time.  :)

This was taken on the beach back home.  This might be my favorite photo of the summer so far.  :)

  1. I love that last beach photo - so beautiful.

Swimming is the one thing we've always said was non-negotiable for our kids just for safety. We went through that with my oldest, not wanting to put his head in the water. In the end I think it was the same as what you're doing that convinced him it was okay - time at the pool and consistency.

Wherever your dad took them fishing is stunning. What a gorgeous place to be able to sit.

  3. Oh no! I hope they like the water soon! It will prove to be one of their favorite activities as soon as they get used to it I am sure! We practically live at the pool in the summer. Your boys are so cute : )

Pretty soon they'll just jump in and you won't be able to get them out.
    Have a great summer.

  7. First photo - HILARIOUS! I love it! Max is the same way though he took swim lessons last year. He never got past level one because he wouldn't put his face in the water. They have to learn though (these words coming from the mom who can't swim and is afraid of the water...) The fishing photo is just darn sweet. A great moment captured.
Oh, and that last one - perfection! Holding hands, the backlighting, the color.
    Great shots of summer!

  8. Water is what summer is all about, huh? Hope it gets better with getting them in it more. Love that last shot. My boys would never stay still long enough for me to take a shot like that. ;)
